Question about placecards and order of names

Hi.

We have some friends whose guests names we were given and will write them on the place card. I am just a little confused about what is acceptable.

I.e. Our friend is Mr. John Jones, but his guest is Ms. Mary Adams. Do we put her name first because it is alphabetical or his first because the invitation was sent to him and most likely he will be looking for his name and not hers.

Please help!!!!

Hey K, you do it in accordance with who was invited.. YOUR guest.. so it would read a follows:


Mr. John Jones & Ms. Mary Adams

I would have thought a woman's name goes first too..

but if she's not the invitee... then I'd think she'd go second.

Whenever I've been FH's 'guest', my name went second. Whenever FH has been my 'guest' My name went first.

I agree with Marcella. The person you invited should go first.
