I'm going to make the OOT hotel info sheets this weekend and send them out ... this is not going to be sent along with anything else (we're not doing STDs or whatnot)
should I print these out on regular paper or on fancier cardstock?
also, who should i send these to? i'm assuming i'm not sending the hotel block info the EVERYONE ... just to people who are far ... but what is considered far?
TIA

Re: Question about sending out OOT guest hotel info
If you arent doing a STD, could you just wait and send the hotel info with the wedding invites?

This is what I've seen. I've never seen hotel info sent separately apart from a STD or invite.

i wanted to send them out before the invitations so that people will have time to book (the block 'expires' a month before the wedding)

ETA: as i menioned earlier ... i jsut don't want to rush people ... and i also don't want the hotel to run out of rooms or wahtnot

Re: Question about sending out OOT guest hotel info
I sent STD's because I have a lot of OOT guests...and have included a direction/hotel card in all my invitations...I am sending it out to everyone because it's got hotel info on one side and reception info on the other side, a lot of our NY guests are opting to stay at the hotel for the night because we're having an evening wedding (8pm ceremony).
I sent a personal email to my out of town friends with the hotel block direct link as an fyi.
I have never received a direction card or hotel card alone...

Re: Question about sending out OOT guest hotel info
Maybe put them on cardstock and kinda make it like a Save the Date...
My block expires a month before as well...and I sent out my Save the Dates before hand...so I just wrote and email to my OOT guests and copied our mothers in and asked that they send the info out to family as well...

Re: Question about sending out OOT guest hotel info
So you recommend sending out this information in the STD? I haven't even spoken to the local hotel yet? Yikes!

Re: Question about sending out OOT guest hotel info
If you're sending out hotel info to OOT guests, you might as well make it a STD with hotel info. Doesn't have to be elaborate, use vistaprint or the free ones JeanM is offering right now

Re: Question about sending out OOT guest hotel info
I would book your hotel block first and then send the info with the STD's. I sent the hotel info with the STD's only to OOT guests and BP's. Then I'm putting the hotel info in all of my invitations. I can always add more rooms to the block if they book up.

Re: Question about sending out OOT guest hotel info
I am having a decent amount of OOT guests but we didn't do STDs---IMO, and I know I am in the minority, they are a waste of money.
We drafted a very nice e-mail with the hotel block info and an overview of the activities for the weekend and sent it to our OOT guests about 2 weeks ago. For the older people that don't have e-mail, I printed it out on nice paper and send in an envelope.
For us, our hotel block starts to release rooms 2 months before the wedding, right around the time we are sending invitations so we couldn't wait.

Re: Question about sending out OOT guest hotel info
We just sent our invites out really early so people would have time to figure out the accommodations. The OOT hotel info was in there.
So our wedding was mid-July and I sent out the invites on March 31st / April 1st. Since we didn't do save the dates, I figured that gave everyone plenty of time to plan since it was for the summer.

Re: Question about sending out OOT guest hotel info
we also did not do std's, and we are sending hotel info out with the invitations. Your RSVP should be a month before the wedding (the same deadline for the hotel rooms), so your invites should be going out at least 2 months before the wedding. That leaves people with one month to decide if they are going to stay over; I think that's more than enough time. If you have significantly out of town guests (i.e. I have a friend from Florida), I just sent a quick email telling her to let me know if she needs any info before then. In terms of paper to use, I used good quality resume paper that matched the color of my invitation, and was able to put 4 accommodations on one 8.5x11 piece of paper, then used a paper cutter to cut them. If you start using cardstock, it will be harder to print and cut (it's do-able, just more of a pain!). Also, I included the hotel info to everyone. You never know - you may have someone 20 miles away who will want to stay over and enjoy a nice quiet night and some brunch the next day! Hope this is helpful!

Re: Question about sending out OOT guest hotel info
We took the hotel inserts, added a clear label with our rate info and discount code to them and includeded it with our invitations. We also sent out an email STD from our wedding website to guests who would be interested in staying over.

Re: Question about sending out OOT guest hotel info
Vistaprint is currently running a sale where you can get 100 free postcards (you just have to pay shipping). They have all different styles you can choose from and you can enter your hotel information. The postcard includes a glossy finish and printing on the back of the card in black and white. I'm planning on getting these for my hotel information in addition to my STD magnets. I also think you can get 100 envelopes for the postcards for under $4. I def think it's a good idea to send out the hotel info (even without STDs) so that OOT guests can start booking rooms. Let me know if you have any questions!

Re: Question about sending out OOT guest hotel info
I did STDs 1 yr before my wedding. My room block had to have the rooms booked 1 month before the wedding and we sent out our invites 3 months before so that gave our guests 2 months to figure it out.
