Question about service charge...

Question about service charge...

So I was looking over my contract and it states price per person plus tax and 19% service charge which is what I expected...no big surprises there. At the very end of the contract it states Your MD and waitstaff are not included in the above pricing. I could be wrong but doesn't the service charge include the tip for the waitstaff?? If not then what exactly is that 19% for? TIA

Service charge is not the tip for waitstaff and MaitreD... NOt sure where there SC goes, but you are supposed to tip seperately.

Also, since the SC is not a tip, it's taxable.

Yes I know it's taxable and I knew it didn't include the MD but I thought it did include the waitstaff

We were told that the SC goes to the various people doing things behind the scenes (which seems like a tip but I guess it's not). The maitre'd tip is usually at your discretion and not taxed.

Service def does not include all the tipping. I wasn't tax on top of the service charge, you should only be taxed for the total before the service charge.
