Question about setting an RSVP date

Question about setting an RSVP date

I know for weddings, we usually mail invites 2 months before wedding and have an RSVP date at approx 1 month before the wedding.

But, how early can things be mailed out for other formal parties?

Can the same guidelines be used, or should a mailing be done at approx 6 weeks before the party with an RSVP of 3 weeks before? (again, this is for a formal party at a reception hall, but not a wedding)

IF it's a formal affair at a reception hall BUT not a wedding I would still do 6 weeks before. Only because you still have to give a head count and worry about those people that won't respond right?

sure do.

I'm debating back and forth with my mom.

I think we're going to compromise and do a mailing 7 weeks before and have the RSVP be a few days shy of the 3 week mark.
