Question about shower gifts

This is probably a silly question, but I was just wondering - after you had your shower, did you start to use the presents right away, or did you wait until after the wedding?

I haven't had my shower yet but after my e-party I put gifts away & wouldn't use them until FH moved in. So now that he is here we have used some of the things & will use shower gifts too.

BTW, there is no such thing as a silly question!

we didn't use CHina or crystal...but DH couldn't wait to play with all the appliances!! lol

the only reason you shouldn't is if you think FOR ANY REASON the wedding won't take place...any time in the near future (changing date ok)

I told John...if he used anything...he had no choice but to go through with the wedding...lol

I think i'll save most of the stuff for when we move into a new house next fall---I want a new beginning

I received a pre-shower present and I do feel funny about using them until after the wedding. That's me though - I don't see anything wrong with using them before the wedding.

Same as yabbobay. We haven't used the fancy stuff yet but I've already used everything else. A few of the appliances I also had to store in my basement because I didn't have the space.

I had my shower Sunday and we've used most of the kitchen things already and my china, crystal and silver are all displayed.

We've got no choice! Our place is too small for all the new stuff from the shower AND all the existing stuff! So we're having a big SPRING CLEANING now to get rid of all the mismatched dishes we've both had since COLLEGE (Yikes! ) and we started using our new casual dishes yesterday! Very exciting!!

The 'good stuff,' though, we are saving and, for now, storing at my parents' house in NY. We don't even have a dining room, let alone a table large enough for or a place to store 12 formal place settings!

we waited until after the wedding and then did a HUGE inventory. we were glad that we waited because we ended up returning some things in order to fill in our every day china. You may want to wait if there is even a chance that you may want to return stuff. Plus, everything was on total sale after the wedding! (of course!)
