question about staggering two photographers

question about staggering two photographers

I'm going back and forth on whether or not I want 2 photographers at the wedding (from the same company). I was told I can 'stagger' photographers rather than have two photographers there the entire time.

Basically, I could have one photographer for 10 hours and another for 5, say.

When would the second (5-hr) photographer start? Would it be better to have this person earlier in the day for getting ready pics, the church, and portraits -- or later in the day for the reception? Or some other arrangement?

It would be easier to just have both there all day, but if I were to stagger, what's the best way to do it?

Hey Kara!! I would think if you were only going to have the 2nd photographer for 5 hours, I'd want them there for the ceremony and maybe getting ready pics.

Our 2nd photographer will be w/ FH at his parents house, and the other will be with me as we're getting ready....I kind of think it's more important to have two photographers in the beginning of the day instead of the reception.

If you staggered, I would get the two for the morning and then just go down to one during the reception.

If you have the morning, you can have them split up to have pics of both him and you getting ready, both angles from when you first see each other, walking down the aisle, etc.

Once you get to the reception, two photographers' work will start to look repetitive - it's not worth it (IMO) to have two shots of two different angles of the dance floor.

Thanks, guys. That makes sense!

I guess if I were to stagger, it would make more sense that way instead of having two photographers at the reception.
