um okay so am I a bad person because I have not sent out my thank yous yet and I got married in September?? I still owe my photographer money but times are a little rough right now so I guess I won't be sending anything out until I pay him. My MIL is like freaking out telling me how bad it is.. I thought people sometimes wait almost a year to send them out. What is the longest you should wait, or when is it too late?

Re: Question about TY cards
Umm I didn't even get mine either!! I think the etiquette cutoff is either 6 mths or 1 year... I forget. Either way, I think we are OK!

Re: Question about TY cards
i sent out written thank you cards before I deposited the checks, but i just made my ty cards on shutterfly, so I'll be sending them out as soon as I get them.

Re: Question about TY cards
I thought it was 6 months for those who came to the wedding and ASAP for those who sent gifts to the house but my best friend pushed 8 months, and It's been over a year for my co-worker.
I was planning on doing my own thank you's through the Kodak Gallery website. They usually have good offers, you just have to be on the look out for them. If you are really stressed about sending them, see if you can make them cheap and maybe delete them from the photography company if they haven't printed them yet. Maybe they'll work with you if they know you are strapped for cash.

Re: Question about TY cards
I'm pretty sure that my photog does Xmas card style TY cards. . .you know, the ones that you get of people's kids and dogs every Xmas, but instead, it's a picture of the two of you with some sort of 'thank you for coming to our wedding' message. I'm definitely going to do that and write a couple of sentences on the back.

Not a big deal at all. I got married 2 weeks after you and I still have a lot to write!

Re: Question about TY cards
I think you are still ok -- I heard ettiquette is 1 year...of course I'd try to get them out before then...you don't want people saying in August, 'wow..so and so's wedding was almost a year ago and we STILL haven't gotten a thank you' LOL!!

Re: Question about TY cards
Honestly I would just send out non photo cards now. Or a t least send them out to your MIL's family and friends so she gets off your back. Yes times are tough, but they are also tough for people who gave you gifts. I don't mean to be rude, it's just my opinion, and I am a big stickler for thank yous.
