Re: Question about unity candles
They do not have to! Our priest thought it better to have them lit already to avoid bringing too many people up on the alter. So that is what we did (which worked well fo us because my Mom has passed and we were not sure what we were going to do)

Re: Question about unity candles
We are going to either light them ourselves or have them lit already. FH doesn't want our parents to light them. We would probably have a big fight with all our parents on the alter. My parents are divorced and hate each other and his mother is not going to be at our wedding because she is a freak who deserted her children years ago. It would be too complicated.

Re: Question about unity candles
No they don't. Our priest also wants to avoid, ANOTHER, fire in the church (bride got veil caught on fire).
We will have 2 uncles light them, before ceremony/BP walks down
