Question about venues

Question about venues

What were the main things that made everyone pick their wedding venue?

And how many wedding venues did you all see before you made the decision?

Re: Question about venues

I saw at least 10 wedding venues and they are all beautiful in their own way but I feel like for what I specifically wanted... MG was the best place for me and that is also the place where I got the most for my money.

I do sometimes feel myself second guessing just because of the location I chose for my wedding. It is going to take all of our family anywhere from 1-3 hours to get to the venue and I know my fiancee as well as myself is concerned with the drive we are going to have to do and all the travel for all of our guests.

I take this into consideration and then know that with the venue of my choice.... I could get married ANYWHERE there and feel like I had my dream wedding. I feel like with many of the places I just couldn't picture myself walking down the aisle there and that is why I couldn't choose the place.

I wanted to make sure I picked a place that if I got married outside I would be just as happy getting married inside and not praying on my day that I could have one or the other specifically bc I would love both equally the same.

Re: Question about venues

I researched prior and eliminated some right off the bat considering how many they could hold, price, ceremony location. The one we ended up booking we didn't even look at prior and didn't even think we would like. We went there as like a practice of what we should look for and fell in love. For us it was just a feeling- we knew right away.

Re: Question about venues

I narrowed tons of venues down by the internet. The size of the dance floor was very important to me. We looked at three including Jericho Terrace. First was North Ritz Club, then Eastwind, and then Jericho Terrace. I knew JT was it as soon as I walked into the room. It was love at first sight.

Re: Question about venues

It was the first place I looked and I knew immediately it was the right place for me. I loved the room and the entrance of the hall. We wanted to have an outdoor cocktail hour, but were concerned about older guest. My venue has an indoor cocktail hour but it also has tables outside for people to sit and eat.

Re: Question about venues

Thank you so much for saying that! I felt that way as soon as I walked into 2 places... Majestic Gardens and Carlyle on the Green but Carlyle was going to cost me an insane amount of money and I don't have the money for it!!!!

Re: Question about venues

We went to alot of venues!! It was a grueling process but in the end we made a great choice and i could not be happier!!

I think you sometimes have to let go of some of the things you want if you are financially strapped or just go with an open mind

I was dead set on a may wedding on the water outside ceremony, outside cocktail hr but it just did not work out for us.

So we picked a fall wedding with a special date and have a beautiful hall with gardens and all!! Very elegant!

Re: Question about venues

I wanted a room I didn't feel lost in without a lot of glitz I am not one for chandeliers and things like that. I always hated things like that because we had them all over the house. So I search the internet and if the room looked to big or had chandeliers it was out. I found one that was smaller and it had only one wedding and it was perfect for me. I'm a very simple people I don't like to much

Re: Question about venues

We saw a lot of RHs. I researched a lot on the internet, some we had been to for prior occassions.

We wanted a small and intimate wedding. We got it with our RH. Plus after seeing it I keep comparing every other place to it.

Re: Question about venues

We looked at 5 and we went with the 3rd one we initially looked out. The room we have was the biggest smallest room out of any of the 5. The GM was awesome and ver accomidating. I was looking for a huge ch room that would gaurentee everyone sat and I got that.I wasn't going to go crazy looking for a rh I just wanted good food and a great room.

We fell in love with CHCC as soon as we pulled up to it. I loved the grounds, the room was just what I had always pictured and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful!

We only saw 3 RHs.

Re: Question about venues

The main thing we looked for was that it was on the water and newly renovated. We only saw CLM and Bridgeview before we made our decision, but I've been to ALOT of weddings the past couple years so I've seen many places.

Re: Question about venues

the most important thing for us was that it was a one wedding at a time venue. It also had to be in Nassau county and reasonably priced so we were able to narrow it down to a few. We saw 4 before we finally picked our place. I think the whole process was about 3-4 weeks for us

Re: Question about venues

Had to be one wedding at a time, low minimum (100 guests), gorgeous, not too far from the city/jersey where a lot of friends and family will be coming from, no tiled ceilings, far from main roads, under $150 pp, great reviews on food,

I did a lot of research for venues in nj and ny before we went to see any places because many were crossed off the list because they didn't have one or more of the above. So we basically went to the RH just to confirm that we liked it in person and we did.

So we only went to see one RH.

Sometimes I wish I had visited more just for the experience but FH and I have busy work schedules and live in NJ so we didn't have time to drag our feet since our RH was already booked for all the saturdays in June at that point.

The only complaint I have about our RH is that we didn't get any extras thrown in like I hear so many of you!

eta: OH YEA, with the site fee and taxes it is about $200 a person but I keep telling myself that it's really not That's what made us go over budget

Re: Question about venues

We looked at about 5 venues and I weeded the others out by just calling and asking prices. I always wanted my wedding in a garden and when we saw WM we were overwhelmed by its grounds!!!!!!! A big selling point for me was that guests have a choice of 7 dinners!!!!!!! I am a big foodie and everyone that knows me is expecting amazing food at the wedding. We have tried WMs food and all has been amazing. FH was sold when our bm told us all colored linens, chair covers and sashes were included. They also threw in wine on each table and a continental breakfast for guests before the ceremony!!He always says it remains the best bang for our buck!!!

Re: Question about venues

I saw 3 reception halls.

I was really worried about food and atmosphere.

I cried at the 3rd one, so I knew it was the one. When we tasted the food it was official, and we booked on the spot!

Re: Question about venues

We narrowed it down by looking at the internet. Things that were important to us was one wedding at a time, smaller minimum (100 ppl), price obviously, and we wanted something different.
We looked at 4 RH and as soon as we walked into ours we just had that feeling and knew it was it.

I think it's totally normal for you to be second guessing yourselves- don't over think it. You chose that place for a reason and remember that every time you start doubting yourself!
