Does my mom walk down the aisle also? and with who?
I really would like to have all of our parents walk down the aisle, but I also want to be traditional and walk down the aisle with just my dad. I would feel terrible not having my mom walk down the aisle also though. Who should she walk down with??
Any suggestions?
Also, what is everyone else doing?

Re: Question about walking down the aisle....
For my sister's wedding, my mother walked down the aisle with my cousin (her Godson)....I will probably do the same thing unless she wants someone different....Not sure yet.....

Re: Question about walking down the aisle....
What if i have her walk down with my brother?? Although...my brother is in the bridal party, so that might make the bridal party walking down a bit awkward.....hmmmm
Also, i have 2 MOHs.....how should i have them walk down?? together? or with the best man? or one at a time without an escort? any thoughts? this is all so hard for me to envision

Re: Question about walking down the aisle....
Usually a usher escorts your mom down the aisle at the very beginning....followed by the grooms parents.

when you say an usher, do you mean one of the groomsmen? if so then i can have my brother do it, i just may end up not having an escort for one of my BM's

Re: Question about walking down the aisle....
usually the parents walk down, then the music changes after a short pause, then the bridal party walks down
so, my brother walked my mom down then walked around and escorted a bridesmaid - it worked out great

that's what i was thinking. Maybe i will do that. although, i just found this online, it says the ushers and bridesmaids walk down alone
Order
After all of the guests are seated, the groom makes his entrance. The order of the ceremony processional is as follows:
* Grandmothers of the bride and groom escorted to their seats by groomsmen.
* Mother of the groom is escorted to her seat.
* Mother of the bride is escorted to her seat. It’s important to note the mother of the bride is always seated last. Once she is seated, the wedding is to begin.
* Ushers walk down the aisle next, alone and take their places in front.
* The bridesmaids follow the ushers and walk down the aisle:
* The maids of honor follow the bridesmaids and takes their places next to where the bride will stand.
* The ring bearer will follow the maid of honor.
* The flower girls will follow next.
* Finally, the bride, escorted by parent or other special person will walk down the aisle.

yeah, i think i do too...i think i figured it out where i can have everyone walk in with an escort...my brother will just have to walk down twice(once with my grandma and again with my mom), and we will have the best man stay up front with FH. THanks for the advice!

Re: Question about walking down the aisle....
I think if you want your mom to walk you down the aisle too you should have both your parents walk you down the aisle. Twenty years from now you're not going to remember that you kept the tradition but that you changed it because your mother means that much to you.

Re: Question about walking down the aisle....
If you have a brother she can be escorted by him (her son) or her own brother. My brother is going to escort my mom. For my brother's wedding, his wife mom walked down the aisle by herself, b/c her son was walking his sister (my sis in law) down the aisle, since her dad had passed away.

Re: Question about walking down the aisle....
I am getting walked down the aisle by both of my parents. I just couldn't disregard my mom like that no matter what tradition dictates.
If you want both parents to walk you down the aisle, than do it. It's your day and you have to be happy with what happens.

Re: Question about walking down the aisle....
In Jewish tradition, the bride and both parents walk down together. In a Christian wedding, the MOB is seated by an escort, be it an usher or a groomsman. If a GM, he can take his place at the front if the other GMs are there. Or, if the GMs are to escort the BMs down the aisle, he can walk around the side of the seating and maneuver to the back to come back out.

Re: Question about walking down the aisle....
OMG serious drama in my family about this very topic! So, mom wants to walk me down with my dad...SHE TOLD ME SHE DID! I am VERY close with my dad and this is his job IMO. I want this to be OUR moment. So, I need to find a way to have my mom walked down the aisle with someone but I don't have anyone to walk her down...I guess I could ask my cousin (her godson). I don't know URGGGG
