Question about wedding gifts

Question about wedding gifts

we got a lot of checks that were written out to
Mr. & Mrs. John & Krystal T....etc.

how do we cash those?
my name isn't changed yet....do i sign my old name? or would it have to go into FHs account. (we haven't opened a join one yet)... we're not sure how to do it.

Deposit it into his account. Or create a new account with both your names (then it will be easier to track wedding gifts), or you can become a signer on his account or DH on yours.

Post pics of your reception already!!! Did you get married in DaVinci or Normandy?

thanks.. i wasn't sure since my last name isn't legally changed to his yet..!!

i was in saturnia... i posted a bunch of pics in 2 other posts... still working on uploading the hundreds i got so far into a shutterfly album.. and although there are too many and ppl will probably get bored.. i'll def. post the link..lol!!!

I had dh added to my old savings account (our wedding account) and so after the checks were written he signed them and depo them there.

we got a few checks like that already and i signed the top line and he signed underneath me...i deposited them to my account and they go through

we got those at our eparty which was weird we deposited them into a joint account, and then on the back FH signed his name and then i signed my name and then underneath my name aka mrs. mulligan which was totally weird but thats what they made me do hahahaha

commerce made me sign my married name (which hasnt been changed yet) and underneath write my maiden name.

Ask at the bank- most will probably have a procedure for dealing with it- its pretty common

I went to my bank to deposit my checks and the ones that said mr and mrs, i had to sign with my maden name, then with married name and had DH sign too. The bank had to approve the checks.

They said it would be easier if you had a joint account so you dont need all the signatures. HTH

it doesn't matter, banks are use to the bride and grooms by now. i did not change my name but dh and i just signed the back of all the checks and deposited into my account which definitely was not the name on all the mr and mrs checks ppl wrote

don't even bring it up just sign them all together and tally

Those are all good ideas.... Sign your old name :)

we opened a joint savings account when we got engaged because we knew people would send checks to the both of us. We are using it currently as a wedding account.

The bank did give me a hard time on my last deposit because I signed my curent name and it was written out to either Mr. and Mrs. or his first name my first name and husbands last name. She said I needed to change the name on the account and I sure did tell her I plan on it it was only 2 weeks ago I'm still waiting on my marriage license gesh! she was more understanding at that point.

p.s. some banks are picky and don't want you to put a check to both of you in an account only for one of you.

Oh jeez, I'm going thru the same stress. FH & I opened a joint account, but that was in Colorado at a bank that does not exist in New York. There's only one bank that Co & NY share so I'll be opening an account there next week, but obviously it'll just be under MY name. This is the bank in which we plan to deposit most (if not all) our checks. So I guess that's okay then, right? Even if it's Mr. & Mrs. I suppose they can handle it for us. I hope so. lol. Without those checks going through, we're pretty much not gonna be able to get home to Colorado. Maybe i'll ask the bank when i open my account just to be sure

we had to open a joint account because my bank (HSBC) wouldnt let us deposit double endorsed checks without permission from my home branch which is in the city & wasnt open on Saturdays. If they were my home branch they would have done it.

thanks so much ladies. i Would say 97% of our checks were like this so i wasn't sure!!! i only got 2 in my maiden name and we got 2 written to cash. so i was just hoping it wouldn't be a problem

wow..you're eparty.?? maybe they wanted you to wait a really long time to deposit them...
