question about Wedding time

So my Aunt calls me complaining about me having my wedding on labor day. She thinks it's ending too late. Keep in mind that most people are gonna be off the day before and the day of. The ceremony is starting at 5:30 pm, cocktail from 6-7pm and the reception from 7-12. I got the venetian hour . I feel that 12 isn't too late because everyone still has time to sleep for work.
My other option would be to start 1-2 hours earlier. I am just concerned that others may feel the same way and leave early. I begged FH for us to have the extra hour (he thought it was a waste) and I would hate for him to be right if everyone leaves before

I'm sure that once everyone sees all the yummy desserts they aren't all going to leave.

Re: question about Wedding time

Thats true but I alrady know maybe majority of the people might leave and say they have to go to work and she ends up wasting her money. Alot of people have been complaining not only our aunt....yeah u can say their loss but really its her loss b/c she still has to pay for the VH...maybe do a tray or something so u don't waste too much money if ppl leave

Re: question about Wedding time

It's your wedding, you can do what you want. people that want to be there to the end will be there. people have this issue with sunday night weddings on regular weekends.

i had a similar problem to this with my engagement party....FH and I wanted it before summer was over and our only option was labor day and FMIL complained that it would end too late and she would be tired for work the next day. I'm a teacher and knew i had to be at work, but it didn't stop me.

Personally, I would eliminate the VH, just because I think it's too much food. I wanted it, but my mom and FH talked me out of it, saying I could use the money for something else. The last few weddings that I went to that had the VH, i was too full to eat anything.

Re: question about Wedding time

Do whatever you want. My wedding is on a Friday so we made the start time at 7:30 and it's a 5 hour event. We could have a Venetian Hour but that means it wouldn't end until 1:30 which imo is way too late. Last wedding I was at we left, not my choice, and I saw many others leaving right after the Venetian or during it. The majority of food went to waste bc it was just too much. I'm not wasting money for people to leave which I know they will so decided not to have one. We're getting a mini venetian thrown in the last hour rather then extend it for the full hour so that's more than enough I think.

ITA! x10000000!!!!

Some people are never happy. And if you make it earlier people might complain that they lose the whole day.

You cant please everyone, so you should do what makes you happy.
