Question about when to send out invites

Ok ladies so heres the issue. I am very anal about everything. So I know that you are 'supposed' to send out invites at the 2 month mark before your wedding date. However I think that thats not enough time to get back all the responses, set up whos sitting where, assemble church programs and favors, and make the place cards along with a million other things you need to do and get ready based on how many people will be attenting. Not to mention we guarenteed a certain amount and have to get the money together for all the people over that number who will be attending. What do you girls think???? HELPPPPP

From Theknot.com

Q.How far in advance should you send invitations? What is the proper date to ask for the reply card?
A. Ideally, invitations should go out six weeks before the wedding -- that gives guests plenty of time to clear their schedules for the day and make travel arrangements if they are out-of-towners. It also lets you make the RSVP date a little earlier -- say three weeks before the wedding date -- so you can get a final head count and start making a seating chart (if you'll have one) before the final-week-before-the-wedding crunch begins. At the very latest, guests should receive invitations six weeks in advance, and you should get responses back two weeks before the big day.

Even if you sent the invites at 8 weeks, 5 weeks is plenty of time for guests to respond.

Re: Question about when to send out invites

I'm actually sending mine out about 3 months before my wedding....only because i set my RSVP date for 6 weeks before the wedding. Asians NEVER rsvp on time haha...usually they only do it after you call them to remind them. So i know if I set the RSVP date too far back, I won't get them in time. hahahaha.

I sent mine out 3 months aheady and set the RSVP for a month and 2 days before the wedding. There is less than 1 month until the RSVP deadline and I have received less than half the responces... If I could do it over I would have made the RSVP for a month and a half ahead.

I have to think about this because I believe the hotel for OOT guests needs final #s a month before the wedding... unless I just reach out to those specific guests earlier, telling them to book their rooms?? hmmmmm

Re: Question about when to send out invites

my friend got married this past Aug 5th...her rsvp date was may June 15th, I got her invite in may..
My date is July 3, 2008... I was thinking of sending my invites out toward the end of April, rsvp mid-may. i am anal too and I have a feeling I may need to call and harass people to see if they are coming.
Hope that helps...
