I'm working on my DIY invites. How do I make a watermark in Word behind the wording of my invites?

In the Format tab go to Background --- Printed Watermark.... make it a Text and change your font there....
I found that I couldn't move the watermark itself, it just centers itself in the middle of the page, so I used Publisher because I wanted it to be centered on the top
