Question -Blocking Rooms for OOT Guests

If you block a certain number of rooms (say 15) and all 15 rooms are not reserved, are you responsible to pay for the remaining rooms you blocked.

I have no idea how this works.

Thanks gals.

Well i know they give u a time limiit to have them booked and then they are released for reg pricing.

I believe if u need more rooms is where u may be charged.

Call the hotel and they will explain.

It varies from hotel to hotel. The Hilton will allow you to block up to 30 rooms without any obligation on your part. If you reserve more than 30 then you are responsible if they are not booked.

No usually, but depends on the place also

For instance I blocked rooms at the Inn at Eastwind, had to leave 50% down (which you get back before the wedding) and they must be booked or they charge you for them.

The Best Western, if they are not booked by a certain date they just release the rooms, no charge

it depends on the hotel...you have to ask...the Hampton Inn off of N. Ocean avenue, you don't need any money down, and you are not responsible for the rooms. I talked to other hotels, and I had to pay for the rooms they did not book. That is ridiculous.

You better believe if I had done that, FH and I would have taken advantage of every bed that we had to pay for!

My hotel, the Wingate, does not hold you responsible for rooms that are not booked. however, the rooms that may be left over from your block are put back out for general sale a month before... so, if people wait until the last minute, they may be out of luck.

It depends on the hotel. The Marriott in Islandia said that I had to guarantee 80% of the rooms blocked to be booked or I would hve to pay for them. Right across the expressway I blocked rooms at the courtyard by Marriott and I am not obligated to pay for any rooms not book. Call around.

Re: Question -Blocking Rooms for OOT Guests

Usually the minimum rooms there is no money obligation

example:

my hotel I can book 20 rooms per night...
20 friday, 20 saturday (no monitary obligation)

if i wanted to book say 22 I would have to put down a percentage...

when you sign your contract or book your block then they give you a date that your OOT guests have to book if they don't book by that day then the blocked rooms go back to the hotel bookings at the regular price...
