Question for all you interracial brides

Question for all you interracial brides

My FH are having a little difficulty deciding what kind of music to play at the reception. I prefer the old R&B classics. FH prefers the latest tunes. Since our back grounds are very different it is hard to play music that will make everyone have a good time. When have been to several weddings for his family and mine and the genre of music is totally different. Any suggestions?????

I am not interracial, but my FH and I are kind of from different cultural backgrounds... he's American through and through and I am 1st generation American...so we decided to hire a band that will play Greek music half the time and a DJ that will play American music half the time. (Best of both worlds?)

we're not interracial, but our backgrounds in music are totally different. he gre up going to raves with all his friends, i grew up listening to my parents music and eventually getting into alternative. his mom is in love with gwen stefani, my side likes things like 'american pie' and all that good stuff (which has kinda become a tradition being played at all events). we're most likely going to be going with a local dj who can actually spin, beat match, and mix. we want sets of hardcore played for the younger people to dance to, mixed in with sets of the older music that my side likes. we'll see how that works out.

I am American (with Italian background) and DH is Ecuadorian-we had a band and they played a mix of it all...some Spanish-typical wedding music, young music-it was great!

if you are interested in a dj company that caters to different cultures and is very professional try elegancia entertainment. One thing that Jose the owner does, which I thought was very interesting, is he requests a breakdown of your guests before the wedding- age race and so on to ensure that he will have appropriate music. He caters to the crowd not just the couple.

ooops i just noticed the screen name and your wedding location- i don't think they travel that far.

Re: Question for all you interracial brides

i'm an interracial bride and this question is very easy for me.

i'm asian and my FH is american italian/english. there was no way I am gonna play Hong Kong pop music at my wedding as i don't like it and since most people dancing will be my FH's side of the family, we're playing most american/european songs.

all you have to do is see which side music is more important to and play that type of music. and your wedding theme also helps determine what you should play.

hth!

I am! I am White (Croatian) and my FH is Hispanic (Cuban). We are playing a mix, a tiny bit of croatian, a tiny bit of spanish and mostly american. We want to do mostly oldies, hip hop, reggae and dance, as those are our tastes in music. Basicly, we are doing a little of everything to make sure there is something for all!

ps i am using bravo sound. they have every type of music you can think of...they even have croatian which shocked the #@$% out of me!

Re: Question for all you interracial brides

i am Filipino and DH is Italian. we played what WE liked, not what our cultural backgrounds called for. Yes, there was Italian music played like the Tarantella and Ti Amo but other than that we didnt want to go over board. We played all types of music from old school R&B to Top 40 stuff like Lucas Prata. play what makes you both happy!
