Question for brides w/ divorced parents...

Question for brides w/ divorced parents...

So, I can't remember if i posted this before or not, but i was wondering what song you ladies danced to with your father. I basically grew up without him since I was 4, he always was involved with my life and all, but I only really saw him over the summer and over winter break, so i really don't feel that any of the typical father daughter songs apply to us...

What did you dance to, or, does anyone have any suggestions. I was thinking Lullaby, but I'm really not sure.

Thanks!

I am in the exact same boat. Dad left when I was in Sophomore in HS and barely saw him. Now he moved to North Carolina so I never see him. My sister danced with him to Isn;t she Lovely which was perfect but I dont want to use it since she did. I am clueless now.

I'm in a similiar boat..I finally picked 'In my Life' by the Beatles

I danced to my dad to Butterfly Kisses- but he picked the song.

My dad was, however, very involved in my life even though my parents divorced when I was 3.

I saw him every weekend and for long vacations/holidays- etc.

maybe ask your dad to choose the song?

I kink of have a situation. I will be dancing with my stepdad not my dad (he won't be there) So we are going to dance to What A Wonderful World since daddy's girl and stuff doesn't apply.

I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one having this problem. My father left when I was little and we have had a very scattered relationship. I'm not even sure he'll come to my wedding. I was thinking of dancing with him alone for a few seconds and then having my fiance ask my Mom to dance to the same song. That way it will take some of the pressure off of me (I've never even danced with my Dad before). Or, I may not do the Father-daughter dance.

I kind of had that same situation with my dad not being involed and he in fact did not come to my wedding. I tried to get him involved in spite of everything but he blew it!!

Instead I dedicated a song to my mother.

I think Wonderful World, In My Life and Isn't She Lovely are all good choices.

I have been on and off close with my dad through the years (they divorced when I was young)

We chose 'In my life' by the Beatles

My SIL danced with her stepfather (father not in her life at all) to Celine Dion's 'Because you loved me'

I'm actually dancing to that with my step-father too!

Thanks for the advice ladies - I might actually go with 'In My Life' I don't know why I didn't think of that before!

My friend used 'My Girl'
She didn't want something too 'Daddy's little girl-ish' b/c she is not at all close w/ her dad, but didn't wan to hurt his feelings by NOT doing the father/daughter dance at all
