my church includes it in the price, but they break it down so you see exactly how much is going toward each person...
so basically they said its gunna be $650
and then said 100 goes to cantor, 100 to janitor, etc etc...

I was meaning to ask about this as well...my church is not only forcing me to pay for the musicians, but forcing me to USE them as well! Basically I am not being given the choice of who or what kind of musicians I want.
I am a professional musician (it is my career!) and since I have spent my whole life studying and making music, it doesn't seem fair to me that the music, which is obviously extremely important to me, is out of my hands. My experiences in orchestra have blessed me with tons of musician friends..and I have to fight for them to be able to play at my wedding! It is so heartbreaking to think that everything is being planned 'without me'.
Anybody else have an experience like this with her church? Any recourse I can use?
Not sure why they're forcing you to use their musicians too.... i was in the same situation as you and because of my own involvement in music had many friends that i wanted to to do the music for my wedding. If you see my above post, i explain the reasoning behind using and/or paying for the church musicians. i don't see why you can have your friends.... I did, although I still paid for their organist and cantor, whom i did not use. i would talk to the church... not sure why it would be a problem...particularly if you're paying for them anyway

Mine is included in the Church fee. They gave us the breakdown.

We had a 'donation' and another amount for the musicians, we also had to paythem regardless of whether or not we used them

the church i was originally booked with was having us do that... we had a seperate fee for the cantor and the organist whether we used them or not.
the church we're now using just has everything included in one small fee. i can't imagine paying the church less than this as it is, so i think it's just included and not extra
