Question for Claud

Claud, I remember way back you posted that you did extensive research on gates...we're up to looking for them and I'm wondering which gates you chose - especially for the tops of the stairs...Thanks!

Re: Question for Claud

Let me know if you have any questions, okay? We've been using ALL but the one for the bottom of the stairs. However, we are getting ready to take the long one in our den down, and putting up the bottom stair one. This is a constantly evolving process!

Thanks again Claud, how do you like the one at the top of the stairs and the one in the doorway to Paul's room? I guess those two are my top priority.

Re: Question for Claud

They are both great! Two observations to share...

The one in his doorway...over time, the 'tension' starts to loosen ONLY slightly. However, with a very simple adjustment, it's back to being tight and secure. It is removable in a snap, if you have to free the doorway for furniture or something.

The one at the top of the stairs...we have seen a difference in the way this one works now versus when it was installed (during the warmer weather). We have it attached to a wall on the hinge side, and the newel post on the banister side. DH said that it's possible the wood has expanded or contracted with the weather, and consequently, the locking mechanism is not lining up properly. However, you can still get it to lock securely, and DH thinks this will only require a small adjustment to fix.

HTH! We are very happy with ALL the gates so far.
