What resources did you/are you using to find a position?
Indeed.com (comilation of other job sites like Monster, career builder etc)
School's career website
Craigslist
Idealist.org (for public interest jobs... lots of positions open if you have experience with grant writing!)
What else? I don't know where to look

Re: Question for current and recent jobseekers
I've actually heard not so great things about indeed - thanks to the stupid unemployment classed i had to go to.. alot of their jobs are already filled, there is a delay so just do your research.
I find that Simple Hired is pretty good....
Also any industry type sites - like for media jobs i look at MediaBistro.com
ETA: Yahoo! HotJobs isnt so bad either

Re: Question for current and recent jobseekers
try to network as much as you can as well and don't be afraid to take jobs while you are searching.
I was just doing a part time receptionist job at a clubhouse when the manager introduced me to his wife who is the office manager of the company I'm with now. He put in a good word for me and she got me an interview!
Just work hard and don't give up!

Re: Question for current and recent jobseekers
it really depends on what industry you are in. Linked in is good, careerbuilder & monster can give you good leads, but you are better off contacting the company directly. I googled dr's offices & health care in NYC and just cold sent my resume out & that's how I got my job this past January.

I've been doing that but I haven't heard anything.
Thanks a lot ladies.
I'm looking for an attorney's position, but I don't find out about my bar exam results until Nov so I've been looking at non-legal employment as well where I can use my JD but I'm still having trouble. Some of these suggestions were great though, thank you!

Re: Question for current and recent jobseekers
I'm so sorry... what kind of law do you want to practice??? I mean, if you know anything about health care law, hospitals ALWAYS could use someone with that kind of background for their director positions.... one of the reasons I'm considering going back for my JD in HC law later down the road... Sorry you are having such a hard time!

As a fellow attorney who has had trouble finding a job in the past, best of luck with it. I've found school career sites and actually Craigslist are good sources. Unless you went to a top 10 school, were on Law Review, and had a 3.5 GPA or higher, the other sites are ZERO help.

Oh don't do that.....
All jobs in health care law require 3+ years of health care law experience....in a firm. Very tough area to get into.

Re: Question for current and recent jobseekers
Yeah, Jamie I got my position off of Hofstra's Symplicity website. I'm still convinced the only reason why I got an interview is because I applied the week before the bar...
Good luck - if I hear of any leads, I'll let you know.

Exactly. My concentration was in health law. I want to do something public interest, but I can't find anything... and firms don't want anyone without experience...
DO NOT GO TO LAW SCHOOL get a MPH instead. I should have done that.
