Question for Dr. or Nurses?

My FMIL came home from work today with blurry vision, and her blood pressure was at 140 over something. She is one blood pressure medecine, and when she went to the Dr. her sugar level was at 500. What could be going on?

My FH is only getting info from sis's boyfriend, and he hasn't seen or spoken to mom yet because s was at Dr. and now at lab.

If her blood sugar really is 500, she should go to the ER immediately. Did she see her doctor today? I don't understand how she would have been sent home.

Sorry...not a nurse or a doctor for that matter... but PLENTY of experience with blood sugar disease and heart stuff (family).
She needs to go the hospital. Having blood sugar that high is VERY dangerous. Also, the blurry vision is directly associated with the high blood sugar and blood pressure.
Don't mean to scare you- but this could potentially be VERY dangerous...Good luck with everything...

500 sugar is making the level that high..I agree with the rest, GO TO ER NOW!

Yup I agree. Get immediate medical attention. Not to scare you but with high blood pressure and high sugar, she could have a stroke or something.

Best to have it checked ASAP!

Definetly hospital indication, stroke and heart attack are risks when blood pressure are out of control but with a sugar of 500 I am sure it is hyperglycemia which she needs medication for, please let us know how everything works out.

Please take her to the ER ASAP for reasons already stated.

Michelle, any word on FMIL? It sounds like diabetes is a possibility with the high sugar and blurry vision.
