Question for Fall Brides

Question for Fall Brides

I'm having a Friday night reception that starts at 7:00 in Woodbury. Our church is going to be in Center Moriches. It will take us approx an hour to an hour and 20 minutes I say to get there. (although I'm thinking about driving it on a friday night to see if traffic kills the ride) We are traditional and don't want to see each other before the church. So my question is. With sunset at approx 5:21 pm, how did you handle the time in between your church and reception for pictures???

I wanted to stop by the beach and get pictures, and then head over to Woodbury. But we wouldn't be at Woodbury until about 6, which would mean no pictures when it is light out. The place is so gorgeous. Now if it rains, all of this is null and void, but we don't plan on rain on our wedding day We are debating between a 2, 2:30, or 3 o'clock start for our church.

So how did you handle this????

Do you think I should just forgo the beach and take pics at Woodbury??? What time do you think I should start my ceremony?

My ceremony is at 5pm - I expect to be done with the ceremony and receiving line by 6-6:15, then its 45 minutes from the church to my hall.

I plan on taking all of my photos AT THE HALL - I even requested that my family arrive at the hall by 7:30 for the family pics, so no one has to miss the CH.

(CH starts at 8)

I just went to a wedding at woodbury & its so beautiful- so I would go with the pictures there- what about asking your photographer to do a 'day after' shoot at the beach so you dont have to choose?

that's not a bad idea. my photog also said we could do our engagement shoot at a lake or beach...so i was thinking that we'll take pics on the beach then....but will i miss out on the experience in my dress??? or will i save myself a headache and take advantage of part of the reasons why we booked woodbury???
