Question for girls doing or did the unity candle...
Did someone light your tapers for you? Meaning, did you call up 2 people to light the tapers from the Church candle and then hand them off to you so you could light the unity candle? We had our Godmothers come up and light them and then hand them off to us. Anyone else do this and if so, who did it?

My parents lit my taper and DH's parents lit his. It was a really nice way to show the joining of the families.

at our church, there are 2 large candles already lit. Then me and FH take our own tapers, light them, and then together light the pillar.

I believe the hall did it prior to the ceremony. Or maybe it was the officiant. I did not see a need to check that part so I can't even really remember. I guess I did not see that part as being part of the 'ritual'.
I thought the 'unity' candle was the important part.

Re: Question for girls doing or did the unity candle...
We had a memorial candle for DH's mom so Fr. Tom suggested that we use her candle to light our 2 tapers. He said it looks beautiful in ceremonies and we agreed to do it, unfortunately it ended up being too windy outside so we didn't get to light them until the reception.
Our bridal attendant actually lit our unity candle and then DH and I light our tapers off of it, kinda backwards but we didn't realize it at the time!!
