Question for girls who already have their dress...
For you ladies who already have your dress, how are you storing it before the big day? I had to pick mine up on Sat. The bag they gave me the dress in was so flimsy that my mom bought a garment bag in the store but it's a plastic one and i'm afraid to keep the dress in there for months. What should I do??

I've had my dress at home in the garment bag since April and it's fine. It will spend a total of 9 months in that bag.

why wouldnt the store hold it there for you? My dress is supposed to come in a few months before the wedding and I think they said I can pick it up the week of the wedding.
I think as long as you store it in the garment bag and in a closet that has a lot of room, so it doesnt get smushed it will be ok. Make sure you dont keep it anywhere humid or musty, like a basement.

It's in the plastic garment bag that I bought at the store. Did you get your dress at David's by chance?

I was told not to let it hang for too long, the weight can stretch it. My best friend was told to wrap it in a white sheet and lay it on a bed, obviously an extra bed.

I have had mine for over a year now and it been in the plastic bag they gave me and also wraped in a white sheet also they say to do that so it dont get dust on it or anything else while its hanging up. Also I just looked at mine a week ago and it is still perfect if that helps u any.

Mine is in a plastic bag inside a garment bag - I am worried about the platic bag but the garment is see through and I don't want FH to see it. .. I am worried that my closet is too warm and it won't store well. . but I don't have anywhere else to put it. I figure I will have to get it steamed before the wedding but have no idea how to go about that either. . it makes me worried storing it - and having to fight trying it on like every day!

I've been storing mine with a simple white sheet over it and then in an unzipped garment bag. (since like February)

Re: Question for girls who already have their dress...
I got mine from david's and they told me to wrap it in a white sheet and open the garment bag about six inches from the bottom so it can 'breath' and store it in a dark closet

I just read in Modern Bride yesterday that you should not keep the dress in a plastic garment bag...'it should be in breathable bag....a plastic bag can trap moisture and cause the dress to yellow' and 'store in the coolest driest part of the house'

My Mom stored an old Jessica McClintock prom gown of mine in plastic, and it literally disintegrated! I would definitely store it in cloth.
