I used assorted shipping boxes. You can score some at the post office for free if those sizes work for you

Re: Question for girls who did a cardbox
I went to the post office and got the 'priority boxes'- they don't charge you until you fill them and ship them, and in this case you wont be shipping them so they are pretty much free. Good Luck

Re: Question for girls who did a cardbox
I was convinced I could make the cardbox of my dreams inexpensively. I could have had all the boxes I'd ever need in my apt out here (from e-party gifts being shipped to us) but I made my cardbox in NY.
I went with my grandma to Joann's to buy fabric, and they were unpacking new stock. I started picking up random cardboard boxes and arranging them to explain to my grandma what my 'vision' was and the salesgirl asked what I was doing. I explained that I was in the prelim stages of making a cardbox for my wedding, and she said I could help myself to any boxes I wanted!
I ended up picking out 4 because I was indecisive about the size of my top box, and then I used those boxes to decide how much fabric I'd need.
I went to Michael's Craft store and picked up 3 different size boxes - Pix in album

Re: Question for girls who did a cardbox
Try come local arts & crafts stores.. if not Michaels. I'm making mine from scratch when the time comes.
Going to get a nice size box and decorate it using wrapping paper, ribbons, glitter etc.

Re: Question for girls who did a cardbox
I am using a set of three 'paper mache boxes' from Pearl art store. It only looks like one box in the store, the others are inside, it's good because each one is an inch smaller.
