I have been a devoted wedding story watcher and my question is why is it that when it is time to exchange rings that the ring is placed on the brides index finger? Just curious.

The index finger is supposed to be the more direct finger to the heart. In Christianity, it's believed the ring finger is closest to the heart; in Judaism, it's believed the index finger is closer.
