question for ladies w/ morning sickness

Hi girls - for all of you that have morning sickness and work full time, how are you dealing with it? Are you spending half of your day in the bathroom? I'm just worried becaue I work 10 hours a day and when I conceive and if I have really bad MS I don't know how I'm going to make it through that long day. Thanks.

Re: question for ladies w/ morning sickness

Luckily the few times I did actually get sick, I was home so it wasn't a real problem. I did however feel nauseus all the time so that wasn't too fun.

I brought in a big supply to work each day of crackers, ginger ale, and a few other snacks to keep my stomach from getting worse. For me, as long as I kept eating I was okay

I was so lucky (if you can call it that!?) that I was always nauseous but never actually got sick. I would sit at my desk and feel so nauseous!! Yuck! But I kept a huge supply of Jolly Rancher Watermelon candy with me at all times and drank plenty of water and did o.k. Don't worry about it yet - you may never even get sick!! And if you do, well, you'll just have to muddle through as best you can!!

Re: question for ladies w/ morning sickness

The first tri, I spent almost all morning in the bathroom at work. I would go in, puke, walk back to my desk, stay there for a few minutes and try to do some work, then head back to the bathroom and repeat the process. Thankfully everyone was very understanding of my problem (I also brought a note in from the OB saying I suffered from Hyperemesis). Some of my clients were not as understanding though when I went to visit. When I urgently asked if I could use their restroom, they'd be like 'What's your problem???'

Oh yeah, and the wonderful co-workers in the restroom who would overhear me getting sick (as much as you try to be discreet - some things are hard to conceal no matter how many times you flush the toilet) and be like 'EWWHH that's gross!!' or 'Do you have to do that in here?!?'. Would you prefer me do it on your shoe or perhaps on your desk? Biotches!!

I spent A LOT of my first Tri @ home sick, not puking, but feeling completly terrible and tired. Luckily my boss understood and let me come in late a lot.

I have done the same as Teri, lots of snacks on hand because eating is the only way i get rid of my nausea. Luckily I have not had to make any quick bathroom runs!

Re: question for ladies w/ morning sickness

I was right there with Shamee. I just recently got over my M/S (5.5 months later). The first 3 months were extremely difficult becuase I didn't tell anyone but my partner and owner of the company. I have a very high stressed-fast pased job and just knowing I had to deal with work and be sick everyday/all day long made me cry all the time! I was more upset because I couldn't explain why I looked so bad or I had to leave early quit often (just to be in my own bathroom).

It's not easy dealing with severe M/S and working fulltime, I told my husband several times I will NEVER do this again! I will be home for the next one...
After going to the doctor and getting more frustrated they put me on meds. Well I took them for a few days and even though I was able to keep some foods down with them, I would be falling alseep or pass out. The med's ade me very sleepy, so I had to stop taking them and put up a stubborn will at that point. I got through it and so will you. Just be patient, read up on M/S try what you can to ease it (however nothing worked for me) Crbs. I was able to keep down sometimes... If you ever need to vent FM me... I feel for you And yes, when everyone says you'll get through it, trust them, you will... It just takes time... Think about the end of your journey (that's what got me through)
