Question for ladies who are getting married in a church different than their childhood church

I cant get married in the childhood church because it is too far away from my RH

So I have to go looking for churchs in my RH area.
Can I just go look at churchs or should I call first?
How should I go about this?

Depending on where you live I would call first then go check it out because you might be able to speak with a priest about everything while you go visit it....If you are looking for a roman catholic church near east northport you should look at Saint Anthony of Padua, it is gorgeous

Unfortunately I too had to pick another church. I am still disappointed but am happy with my new pic.

Anyway I called and emailed a bunch first.

I had to call first and make an appointment. It's kind of a pain because a few churches didn't want us going there. But if that happens don't give up, you'll find one!

The difficulty of this will depend on the religion. I didn't go to a church and FH is from NJ, so we started from scratch.

We were having no trouble when we were going to go Episcopal, they were all accommodating, but when I decided to make MOG happy and go Catholic it got much more complicated.

Here's what worked for us. If you have a friend who is connected to a local church ask them to talk to a priest for you. That is how we got the foot in the door for our church, but it still took us forever to get an appointment.

there is no reason why you can't just go and check them out if you are looking for something in particular... churches are different than catering halls, they don't tell you that you can't go in if there is a ceremony taking place or a mass going on. the reason why i say this is b/c we made appts with churches and each time we had to answer all kinds of questions with the priest(whether i've tried to join a convent, if i have sought counseling, if i am marrying on my own free will, etc etc) and they made it seem like we had to book it right then. i would wait to call and make the appt to speak to the priest when you are sure that's where you want to have it!
