Question for married ladies and accountants

I've always claimed Single 0 for my taxes. Now that I got married, what do you suggest I switch it to?

TIA

I'm staying Single - 0 and waiting to see which works out more in my favor when I file my returns next year. I believe if you switch it to married they take out a little less in taxes

Tax Professional here!!!

it's a smart idea to stay single 0 on your W-4 (for withholding purposes). on ur tax return, you can file Married 0. Single 0 get's the most tax taken out and it will benefit you in the long run. I am currently Single 0 with an extra $20 in taxes taken out (10 to state, 10 to federal) because I like to make sure my taxes are paid, and whatever is left over, it's like a hidden savings I didn't know about. comes in handy for the summer.

FYI: State NEVER calculates the right amount to be taken because they change twice a year, I'm always getting updated payroll programs. It's annoying.

Oh wow, thanks! I didn't realize I could stay single 0 on my W-4 since I got married. Thanks so much for the info!

yea, your w-4 doesn't really matter. your tax return does, so make sure you file married.
