If they did it wasn't to us!

Our frinds and family knew 1 1/2 years before that we were choosing a holiday weekend so they really have nothing to complain about...

Yes! We are getting married 4th of July and I have heard 'why a holiday', 'that's a bbq day', 'why can't you do it on the 3rd'

My response, don't come! You would be doing me a favor by having less guests.

Man, people have a lot to say and well, I do too...its SHUT UP!!!!

just wanted to say I love the idea of it being a holiday weekend! you get to celebrate it at the wedding!

*to add I am getting married on a Thursday, so my advice is who ever wants to be there will be there, and the rest can leave their comments at home :)

i haven't heard any complaints, but we did get several 'no's we werent expecting because people had plans, but we were ok with that. i did send out save the dates, which i wasn't going to do, and ONLY because we picked 4th of july weekend.

I'm getting married on a thursday before the 4th of july weekend and people loved the idea of kicking off a long weekend, nearly everyone responded yes..

Haven't received a complaint yet, but I haven't sent out my STDs, only just told friends and family I've seen lately. We are getting married friday of memorial day weekend so it shouldn't be so bad. They have the whole 3 day weekend after to do whatever they want, and I think coming out on the north fork that weekend is a nice way to spend it!

I was originally a 10.10.10 (columbus day weekend) bride before I move my wedding up a week. That was my date up until January of 2010 and I never heard anyone complain.

For the past 2 years I've gone to weddings on Sunday(the day before Memorial Day)

Last year I was in my friends wedding party and last Sunday I went to my friends wedding. It was definitely a good time, but FH said if we get an invitation for next years Memorial Day we are replying NO because 3 yrs in a row is just a little too much.

We are planning a getaway now, for next Memorial Day, lol.

The brides let us know over a year in advance though so it was definitely a goooood time :)

We had our wedding on the Saturday before Martin Luther King Jr. day so a lot of people had off Monday and my godfather actually complained because his girlfriend had made plans way ahead of time to go skiing that weekend with her family or something, so she couldn't come. Are ya kidding?

I went to a wedding the day before Memorial Day this year, and there were absolutely no complaints. Everyone went, had a blast, and a large group (16) of us stayed over at a hotel and partied that night.

No one has complained yet.. A few out of town guests have actually expressed how happy they are that its a holiday weekend because they won't have to miss any work to fly here and back. I'm sure people will complain but like others said, it's ok, just don't come!

People were actually thanking us....we had a lot of OOT guests and they were happy they were already up for Xmas, so they didn't need to travel again for the wedding.
