Question for moms

I'm just wondering because I really don't have any experience in this. How old was your baby before you brought it out in public with you? Or even to another person's house?

I have a friend who had twins about 2 months ago. And the only time these kids have gone outside is to go to the doctor and I think once for a walk in the park when it was a really nice day out. Now I'm not saying that they should be bringing the kids all over the place and I could understand not wanting to bring them to a mall or out for dinner. But would it be bad to bring them over to someone else's house for a couple of hours while you watched tv?

I honestly am clueless with this. I always thought they said wait about 6 weeks before you bring them out in public. And again I'm asking more about just going to someone else's house. Are my friends being over cautious or is this the norm?

Re: Question for moms

I waited until Molly was about 4 weeks (for Christmas) and we went to my parents. But I didn't bring her into a public store until she was almost 8 weeks old and then I made sure NO strangers touched her.

In the winter people tend to stayy indoors A LOT longer than in the summer/spring. A newborn with a cold is not a good thing so moms are more concerned about the weather.

Re: Question for moms

Emma was 9 days old when I HAD to get out of the house. We took her down by the water in Greenport. We kept her away from everyone cause she was so new but I couldnt take being cooped up.
