Question for Moms of toddlers

Question for Moms of toddlers

Does anyone take their child to religious services? We want to start being able to take Lukie to church with us but is he too young? I cannot picture him staying still and he's so loud sometimes (most of the time). I'm just wondering how others are handling this.

Thanks.

Elizabeth my sister is the mom of 4 and she took those kids to church from day one practically. Yes a lot of times they were loud, but the church never had a problem with it. Sometimes they would just like yell out 'HELLO!!!', and the priest would nod or something and smile. People totally don't mind. My mother always said that nothing could make God happier than having a child as a guest at his house. No matter how they behave.

She brings one toy for each kid. A coloring book or something. And Cheerios.

They have an incredible attitude now that they are older at mass. They sit and listen and completely understand and actually enjoy it. It's a great thing to do for them spiritually and I think a great thing for the family as well.

As a side note: I went with them once and my youngest niece Rebecca was probably oh 2 or 3 and she got out of the pew and walked right down the aisle before anybody could catch her pointing at the priest saying 'Now you quiet down. That's enough out of you Missy.' The things they hear and then repeat! It was the cutest thing ever.

As Jenny said you bring a few books & a quiet toy. Cheerios & a sippy cup. When you go in there you tell them this is a quiet place. There is usually SO much to look at in there they are good for at least 1/2 the service. After that you break out the books or cheerios. (do not bring them out when they are happy)

i also wanted to add that they go to a special pancake joint after mass all together, so i think that adds incentive to be good!
