I'm starting to get really worried that people are going to leave early...
Our reception is from 6:30-12:30 on a Sunday night... We paid for the viennese hour and now I'm worried that nobody is going to stay for it
I called the hall and tried to move things up an hour and they wouldn't let me. In your experience did everyone leave early??? And if so, what would you do about the favors? I was thinking of asking if I could put them in the lobby, but with multiple weddings going on i'm not sure they'll allow that...

Re: Question for newlyweds who married on a Sunday
Im a sunday night bride, but memorial day weekend, so most of everyone is off the next day.
Honestly, im not worried. By the end of the night, I am going to be exhausted and it might be nice to have my immediate family around like a private party.
how many ppl actualyl stay to the very end anyway??
But I feel most of my guests are going to stay!

Its kinda funny how people go crazy for 'free' things!! We'll have to pat them down at the door before they leave!
HAHA, We'll def have to have them distributed at the tables, if it's by the door that's too easy of a get away
Somone would have to have a HUGE purse to sneak a bunch of ours out
It is crazy as to what people would do for 'free' things!
I have the same thing- we're doing wine bottle favors- one per couple. Not sure yet if we're going to have them at the tables or what as of yet.
We're doing a Sunday morning wedding- since we're not doing the Vienese hour we're ending at 5pm- even if we did the extra hour 6pm is not bad for those that have to work on Monday- they'd get home about 9-10pm the latest since the farthest ones are from NJ.

Re: Question for newlyweds who married on a Sunday
I'm not a newlywed, nor getting married on a Sunday, but I have been a guest to Sunday weddings, haha. I must admit Sunday weddings are a bit difficult when they run late and a person has work the next day. I stayed til the end of one of my friend's Sunday weddings, and I was EXHAUSTED the next day at work, couldn't get anything done. I was just happy I wasn't scheduled for court that day or for a trial. After that, I pretty much decided I wouldn't stay til the end of a Sunday wedding if I have work the next day. But that's just me, not everyone.
At another Sunday wedding I went to for a friend at JT, I noticed that once the Viennese Hour started, everyone grabbed the food and then all started leaving, including myself. I felt so bad for my friend though because she was like ohhh nooo, the wedding isn't over yet, there's still another hour of drinking and dancing.
Mainly, there's not much you can do to prevent people leaving early. But I do recommend spreading by word of mouth, as much as possible, that your wedding goes until 12:30. A lot of times these days, no one knows exactly when a wedding will end because you never know if the bride and groom splurged for the veinnesse hour, etc. I think by letting people know the end time, they know going in how late it will go and can maybe make arrangements to make sure they stay as long as possible. Also, I'd clarify to them that the wedding does not just end once viennesse hour starts - cause at a lot of places, the viennesse trays/carts are rolled out onto the dance floor and stay there for a while, so everyone is kind of sitting there eating, there's no dancing going on, so then people are like ah it's late, let's get going. With that said, considering a lot of people attempt to leave right after they grab their food during the viennesse hour, I would actually recommend not moving your viennesse hour. I think it's better to keep it later - this way people will stick around for it. People go nuts for viennesse hour and see it as free food, so a lot of people want to stay and eat it all up. Once the viennesse hour is over, I think people look at it like ok I've eaten, there's nothing really left for me here, I'm going to have work tomorrow, it's late, let's get out of here. So I think it's actually better to keep it at the time you have it for, so people will stay later.

Keeping them late would be nice for me since all I'm doing the next day is catching a flight to Rome... but out of kindness to them maybe I should just move it earlier so they can get home.. and there is that extra hour thing... ugh. I wonder if we can just move the viennese hour up but still have the last hour there as like an afterparty for those of us who stay I'll have to ask about that!!

Re: Question for newlyweds who married on a Sunday
im a sunday bride and originally had it to end at 11:30....vienesse hour to start at 10:30......i then started thinking that was too late for people that had kids @ home or had to work the next day....so i moved it to v-hour start at 9:30, everything ends at 10:30. last wedding i went to was a Sunday, ended at 11, people were already leaving by 10

Re: Question for newlyweds who married on a Sunday
SO I talked to a couple of friends and asked their opinion, and they said they had already decided to take Monday off, but they said it was probably a good idea to move the viennese up an hour. So I just called JT and started to ask them about it.. and they said my VH isn't at 11:30 anyway! They said that extra hour they gave us is for dancing and drinking, the viennese is going to start at 10:30. Glad I called since I booked a cigar roller for the viennese hour and told him 11:30-12:30!!
Thanks for all of your advice, I'll make sure I mention it in my review however it goes!!
