question for nyc teachers

Does anyone know the process of adding your FH to your insurance? We aren't getting married until 2012 and I want to add him now. I know that I will prob have to file for domestic partnership, but what else do I need to do?

We are doing this now. First file for domestic partnership. Then you fill out a form (payroll secretary can give it to you or you can dl it online) I'll send you it tomorrow when I go into work because I have it there.

Then you give that info to payroll, and he will be added. You then send that information to the Welfare fund. I'll send you the info tomorrow.

We actually just became domestic partners in January! I handed in all the paperwork, but we still haven't gotten his insurance cards. Once you get the paperwork from the city, you send that into the UFT. Also, keep in mind, while he is your domestic partner, you will have to declare his insurance coverage as income. I believe the amount is around $4,000, but you will not have to pay this the year of your wedding.
