Question for past brides who were below their minumum....

Question for past brides who were below their minumum....

We might end up about 5-7 people below our minimum. Do you think that's enough to get something thrown in for free? Or are we getting our hopes up too high?

depends on your hall. Our minimum was 300, we ended up with 275 - our hall was nice enough to lower our minimum to 280, we got nothing thrown in for free. Except they did send us home with the 5 extra dinners as well as our dinner which we never got to eat.

Ah we have a low minimum as it is, so I doubt they would drop it. We have a 75 minimum for a room that seats 145. I guess I'll ask the BM when I call him.

what is your minimum?

also, some people said there is a % of those who replied 'yes', will not show up on the day of the wedding. Ask anyway!

I guess it depends on your RH. We ended up being 6 below our minimum with 1 no-show and 5 others who backed out that last week (legit illnesses).
By the time we realized we would be below, we didn't care enough to do anything about it. It stinks to have to pay out $ for nothing.

see if you can include some of your vendors into THAT number, so you also don't have to pay the price for them?

Still wouldn't matter. There would only be 2 vendors there at the reception....the DJ and our photographer who works alone.

Ask your vendor to box up the uneaten meals or see if they will throw something in for you. It never hurts to ask.

I may also be about 5 below the minimum. I'll have to ask my BM as well, good luck

Nope, out of 130 people invited, we're looking at 77 people right now, but that's IF we get no more no's. And right now we might get no's from 4 or 5 more people possibly.

So whoever said there was a 20% decline rate lied. Mine is closer to 40%.

Don't feel badly-those number change so much based on the make up of your family. If your the first to get married, you're likely to get more 'yes' responses. If you have a lot of OOT, you'll have more 'no' responses. So many things can change this number. Hey, at least you don't have to worry about breaking your budget w/too many yes responses!

If not have them wrap up the amount of meals, take them home and put them in the freezer and you have dinner for several days when you return from your honeymoon. That's what we did. I didn't have to cook for days after I returned

most banqet halls will not let you take the meals home because it is pre preared food, and it is a health code violations. Think of it this way- if you are staying at a hotel and you want to take a meal that you havent eaten yet home, you have no where to put it ( say no fridge) by the time you get home the meal hasnt been refridgerated in almost 24 hours, you put it in the fridge, eat it the next night, and end up getting sick, the hall is responsible because they gave you that food. It doesnt matter what you did with it after you left, it is still there fault.

The only other thing you can ask is if they would serve a second helping to some of your bridal party or parents. Good Luck
