I am getting married at st. Christophers church in Baldwin. We are not doing a full mass, only the ceremony. As per my priests instructions, I picked out all of the readings, prayers etc. From the together for life book they provide. The priest told me that I can have friends or family members read two of the selections. Does anyone know which readings are usually the ones friends or family will recite. Not the actual prayers...I have already chosen those. I am talking about the section, for example the old testament or what not. Not quite sure which of the chosen prayers and readings should be assigned to who. Does it even matter or can I just pick random ones? So confused.

Re: Question for readings at catholic ceremony
You can have a person do a reading for the following:
First Reading (old testament)
Responsorial Psalm (if not sung, you can have someone read it)
Second Reading (New Testament)
Prayer of the Faithful (if you have one, but I think for a ceremony only they don't do this).
As far as who you picked to do which reading is totally up to you. It can be a family member or friend.

You can ask whomever you like to. We decided to ask one person from each side of the family to keep everyone happy and included.

Re: Question for readings at catholic ceremony
Most church services will sing the responsorial psalm so typically its 3 readers. You can split the prayer of the faithful and have 2 people do that if you wish.
