Are any of you not getting married during the summer? If so, how are you handling your HM...are you taking it right away, or are you waiting for a school vacation?

Re: Question for teachers
I'm getting married the Saturday before President's Day week, so we can take our honeymoon right away. It will be great to get away from NY in February!

Re: Question for teachers
I definitely wanted more than a week, so we waited until the summer. It wasn't my ideal time for a wedding but oh well.

Re: Question for teachers
I got married the Saturday before Thanksgiving and only missed Mon & Tues that week.
I really feel that teachers have tons of time off and really should be considerate about when they get married. I teach in a school where we don't hire subs and the teachers just absorb the absent teacher's schedule. This can be a PITA some times.
I had a teacher who took of two weeks during her wedding then went on a Honeymoon in during Feb break and missed 2 days and then for their 1st anniversary, took a long weekend. I thought that was a bit much!

Re: Question for teachers
My FH is a teacher and we are getting married the Saturday before Thanksgiving. He has spoken to his principal and the school is fine with him taking the time off (I think he is using his personal or sick days) so that we can go to Hawaii.
He will be missing 7 or 8 days of school.

Re: Question for teachers
I am a teacher and I refused to get married in the summer. We are getting married the Friday before Thanksgiving so I wouldn't have to take as many days off...
Three other teachers are getting/got married this year... First did it the Sunday before Columbus Day so they took a day or two less off.. Next got married the Friday before Easter break so she missed about a week, and the last is getting married in July.

Re: Question for teachers
I am getting married 4/8/06. My principal reguarly offers teachers 5 days for honeymoons. Several teachers in our school have gotten married during the school year.
I am taking 2 days before the wedding and 3 after the wedding, which will lead into Spring Recess.
