Question for teachers....

I am teaching ELA for the Summer Bridge program in my district. I have 2 classes - 6th and 7th graders....since I teach kindergarten I am a bit out of the loop. I taught summer school a few years ago to kids this age, but it was more english (not really ELA).

Any ideas for good lessons that would keep these kids on task? Each class is an hour, and it is for 3 weeks.

HELP?!?!?!!?!??!?!

What do you mean ELA?
English Language Arts?
or the NYS ELA Exam?

Re: Question for teachers....

Sorry - can't really help you then...my district sticks to plain old English, so I'm not sure wht qualifies for ELA.

In my summer school classes, I give them essays, books to read and questions to answer about the books.
Short stories are great too - you can read them together and have them answer questions about them
