Question for teachers

Question for teachers

How long do the teacher certification tests last?

I took the LAST (12-00) and CST last summer. I am still in grad school and won't graduate until 12-04. After that we are thinking about starting a family and I will sub for a while (unless I am fortunate enough to get a job straight from student teaching - doubtful)

Anyway... I know I can't get permanantly certified until I am fully teaching for 2 years but can I get provisional and will I eventually have to take the tests over?

SO CONFUSING

Your CQ (certificate of qualification) is good for a limited amount of time--2-5 years I don't remember. But the requirements are changing very soon. You might want to check the department of educations website under teacher certification. I think that they are even doing away with the CQ all together.

It used to be after you got your CQ....you had 5 years to get your Master's. But they are changing the regulations where there will be no more Permanent Cert. You have to take continuing courses, I believe??? But you can use those courses towards your salary raise. That is what I was told.
I would call BOCES, and they will guide you.
