I was just reading on CNN the ratio between teachers to students. They have a breakdown of each state.
My question is, what class do you teach and do you feel that there are too many, just enough or too little students in your class??
By the looks of the map, NY 13-14.9 average student.
I will try and post the map.

Re: Question for teachers!!
12-14...HAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHHAH!!!!
definitely not for HS
When I was in NYC I had 34 in 5 classes....sometimes I lucked out and would have 31 or 32....
in the 'burbs...it was a better number between 20-28...
for me i found that mid-twenties was always the best for discussion and class dynamics...
I had a class of 10 once...and they were SOOOOOO quiet!!! painfully so...

Re: Question for teachers!!
I teach high school social studies in the city and contractually, we can't have more than 34 students in each class. Of course, we have more than that in September and it's so overwhelming! Even 34 kids is too much. I agree - about 25 students is just right. I have to assign essays at least every other week and thank God not all of my students don't do their homework, otherwise I won't have time to do anything else but grade essays!

Re: Question for teachers!!
I'm at the Richard R. Green High School of Teaching on the Upper East Side. How long ago were you at Cardoza? Did you know Bernie Cohen and Nelia Vicente? Nelia used to teach chemistry at our school and left about 4 years ago.

Re: Question for teachers!!
I have 22 in my class this year, which isn't terribly high, but I'd love to have 18 - 20.

Re: Question for teachers!!
I teach 5th gr. science and religion in a catholic school and have 27 students, but we're departmentalized so i actually see about 110 each day. I think its too much, theres not enough room (or time) for all of them to have a product work space.

Re: Question for teachers!!
I teach in a private school where we have between 8-14 in a class. I kind of like the small classes since that is all I have ever worked with.
