Question for teachers - what's your favorite gift to get from your students?
I'm new at this and I already struggled through Christmas!
My son is finishing up preschool next week. He has one teacher and two aides. I have no idea what to give them!!!
What do you like getting best or what would you like to get as an end of the year gift? Thanks so much!!!

Best gifts I ever got were gifts that the kids really thought about. For example: my kids know that I love the old looking teddy bears, one of my students bought me 2 of those. 2 of my other girls got together and they know that I drink Coca-cola like it is going out of style so they bought me a Coca-cola desk set with a matching coca-cola white board.
My husband's favorite gift that I ever got was a gift certificate to Fridays!
But honestly I appreciate anything my students give me. I treasure the cards and notes as much as the presents

when i was finishing up student teaching, i got the best letter from one of my kids telling me he was nervous to start jhs, but i made him feel better! i loved that!

The notes are great! I love it when the children write them! As for gifts, I always appreciate it when a parent sends a gift. It is so sweet of them. Some of the gifts that I have treasured were...handmade chocolates from a great shop in NYC, gift certificate to the teacher store, bath and body works hand gels, and stationary sets. By all means don't get halogen lights for the car (hehe...a friend once got those...so strange!).

I love the personal gifts...one of my students gave me a little dishtowel with a yellow VW beetle on it because that's I drive....
on the other hand, a not so personal, but favrotie gift of mine was the Godiva Chocolates...mmmmmmm

Oh yes, I got Godiva's a couple of weeks ago after a performance with my kids, they all chipped in and got it for me...MMMMMM....I also love when the kids give me flowers. That's sweet. I have not gotten too many gifts that were out of the ordinary sweet, but I have gotten some really nice cards that were worth their weight times ten in gold. I also got a gift certificate to get my car washed I guess they had seen it Go with something from the heart. You can't go wrong with that.

I am a prekteach teacher and love when my students bring me bath and body works products. They make gift baskets that are great gifts.

My BIL teaches in an elementary school in one of the 5 boros and last year one of his students gave him a set of steak knives!

I say always go for the gift certificate...I have 10 years worth of 'Best Teacher' mugs, pens, desk sets, paper weights. etc....Not that I am not appreciative of the gifts, I am, but my husband has banned any more 'teacher' related goods in the house! LOL

I agree with Weddings...I have so much teacher stuff that it gets too much after a while..
I truly appreciate any gift but love gift certificates to borders or a restaurant.

Thanks for all the replies!!! I was thinking along the lines of gift certificates to Borders but I was afraid it was to impersonal. But I didn't want to get another teacher thing when they probably have hundreds already! Maybe I will do the gift certificates and then get some chocolates to go with it.

I'd have to say that one year I got two really nice beach chairs at the end of the school year.. they were wrapped so nicely.. it was perfect and exactly what I needed to relax that summer!

things i have gotten that i love are gif cert for a manicure/pedicure, bath and body products, gift cert to the mall, movie cert...
