Question for the married ladies

Did DHs parents give him a gift on the wedding day?

I ask because FHs parents are getting him a gift which is much more expensive than the little thing I am getting him..and now I feel stupid.

No, she did not. (DH's dad passed when he was young.) And my parents didn't, either. AND we didn't get gifts for each other, EITHER.

Re: Question for the married ladies

DH’s parent’s didn’t get him an actual present… but they paid for the RH, so that was the best gift he could have gotten.

But I didn’t get him anything either; I was going to but he told me to save my money bc there was nothing he wanted.

They did not give him a gift. My Mom gave DH a gift (jewellery) and his parents gave me a gift, also jewellery.

Re: Question for the married ladies

DH's mom gave us her gift ahead of time in case we needed it, she gave a large sum of money and didn't know if we were struggling to pay for the wedding so she wanted us to have it just in case we needed it. DH's dad didn't give us anything, not suprising... I waited until after we got home from the honeymoon to give his gift, which was his dream car so even if it cost more or less than what his mom gave him it was something he REALLY wanted!

Re: Question for the married ladies

DH's mom passed away when he was 14. FFIL threw us an engagement party and paid for the RD but didn't not give us an actualy wedding gift. He didn't give DH a seperate gift. My parents paid for the entire wedding so I did not at all expect anything and even had they tried I would not have accepted, they did wayyyy too much as it was.

FMIL gave us our wedding present but not a gift specifically to him. We actually gave her a gift.

DH's father and Step mom gave us both there gift a week before the wedding. His Mom also gave us her gift about a week before to help us out if we needed it. We didnt get each other anything...we gave each other the wedding

Re: Question for the married ladies

DH's parents got us a vacuum cleaner for a wedding gift, which they gave him about 2 months before the wedding.

I wish they'd paid for the RD instead, since I ended up paying for it, but it is what it is.

No neither parents gave seperate gifts. Both sets just gave a wedding gift.

No, they got us both stools (about a year before but apparently our wedding present) and paid for the rehearsal dinner. I think it would have bothered me if either of our parents gave just one of us a gift. Its supposed to be about US.

Re: Question for the married ladies

One of DH's parents couldn't be bothered to come to the wedding, and neither gave him a present, let alone a present or card to congratulate us at all.

I wouldn't feel stupid. It's his parents and they have more money than you do. Yours will be special just because it's from you. It doesn't matter how much you spend.
