approximately how long did you spend walking around from table to table? (and how many tables did you have)?
I will have about 10 tables and i'm afraid that if i spend 5 minutes at each table, i'll 'waste' and hour of the reception!

Re: question for the newlyweds...
I'm not married yet BUT FH & I are the last of all our friends to get married (we are in our early 30's) so basically we have been to & in a ton of weddings. So w/that said I feel confident giving you this piece of advice, unless you are dead set on going from table to table, I say don't do it! You will prob spend 10-15 min at each table and could easily miss 2 hrs of your reception. We plan on attending our cocktail hr and getting up to make a speech after our reception entrance to thank everyone. If ppl really want to talk to you, they will find you, I promise! So wouldnt you rather be @ your seat next to FH or on the dance floor?

Re: question for the newlyweds...
It probably takes about 30 mins to hit up the whole room if you're doing it during the reception part. I've seen it take all of CH when people try to do it then because people are in a more social chatty environment. In the ballroom there's lights and music and you're able to say your hello's and thank you's and get on to the next table! JMO!!

Re: question for the newlyweds...
It def didn’t take us that long… I would say 15-20 mins tops? Since we got our food first, we ate quickly and walked around while people were finishing their dinner… this way everyone was sitting down at once. We mostly just said a quick hello and thanked everyone for coming and that was it!

Re: question for the newlyweds...
we didn't spend that much time doing it. We had 14 tables and maybe spent half an hour doing it. It was quick and relatively painless.

Re: question for the newlyweds...
We had a LOT of difficulty! We tried to do this during dinner. So we scarfed our faces (very attractive couple that we are) and then made the rounds. We started with our more distant tables as we correctly assumed we would not get to go to all of the tables. We missed our closer friends and family but we tended to spend more of the evening with them anyway, so it was OK.
Plus, take into account that EVERYONE will want one-on-one time with you ... everyone. Even distant relatives of DH's that you've never met before. They ALL want to talk to you and a simple wave is never enough for these people!

This is why i am going to my own cocktail hour to get this out of the way then and not have to miss my whole wedding talking to people!

Re: question for the newlyweds...
This is why we're doing a receiving line and attending CH- we can get it out of the way then.

Re: question for the newlyweds...
We had a receiving line after Mass and during the reception went table to table during dessert.
Granted, we probably should have made rounds during dinner....but we wanted to EAT and enjoy ourselves- I don't regret this decision at all. I can honestly say that I enjoyed 90% of my reception next to my DH.
It took us 15-20 mins to get around to 14 tables.

Re: question for the newlyweds...
Maybe 20 minutes to a half hour tops. We did it during pasta course so it didn't really 'waste time'. We mingled with some people at CH, but we hit up everyone during dinner. I went to a wedding once where I didn't see the bride until after the wedding was over, and we never saw the groom once, and I thought it was so incredibly tacky that I made sure we said hello to every single person.

Re: question for the newlyweds...
We had 16 tables and were able to go to each one. We broke it up and tried to spend just a couple of minutes at each table. Most of our guests spent the night on the dance floor with us so it was not too bad!! I did not feel like we wasted time I enjoyed talking to our family and friends. Many of DHs relatives have commented on how nice it was we came to talk to each table.
