Do you see a huge improvement in yourself from when you were in your twenties?
I was thinking about this and I am such a better person now!
In my twenties, I was insecure, needy and wimpy.
At 30 now, I have learned to toughen up, I am more responsible, stronger and I plain just don't give a crap about certain things anymore.
I am such a better person now!!!!!

Re: Question for those 30 and over????
I won't say I am a better person and I was always responsible, but I am definitely more secure and confident in myself.
I have a much lower tolerence for BS and negative people.

Re: Question for those 30 and over????
I don't know if it's a huge improvement but I'm definitely happier, more secure about myself, more responsible and like Christine I've gotten rid of alot of the BS in my life (toxic friends, etc.) My 20s were a great time in my life since I did so much (travel, going out, etc) and I don't regret any of it but I'm much more content in my life now. I never thought about getting married in younger years (especially not to the boys I had dated - LOL). I met FH when I was 30 and it truly is the best relationship of my life, there was something different the moment I met him and everyone tells me I've had a sparkle in my eye since that day.
sorry so long!

I wouldn't say better I am just more selfless than I was at 21. I am also more independent then I was at 25.
Good question.

Re: Question for those 30 and over????
I agree with what you guys have said and also add that I don't have the desire to work out for 2 hours like I used to in my 20's...or maybe its b/c I don't have the time. Can't decide if it's b/c I'm getting older or not.

Re: Question for those 30 and over????
There are so many differences in me since my 20's. No more clubbing. Now entertainment to me is perhaps going to a lounge with the girls for a drink, going out to dinner, watching a movie, etc.... There are certain things I just don't find 'fun' anymore.
I am definitely more responsible, not so bratty anymore. I also feel I have learned the art of being a little more subtle than back in the days. My mouth would get me in a lot of trouble

I have also always been very independent, secure and responsible but yet I see a different side of me has developed...maybe just a little more mature? And I agree with Christine - I have much less a tolerance for negativity and BS although I have become more open minded in general.

well its only been 2 weeks for me...but i really feel that I do grow as I age...constantly...
maybe I want to feel 21 again...but I never want to be it...
like Christine said...I am good at weeding out the negatives that I wouldn't have been able to see 10 years ago...
ugh...is that what they mean by experience? I though 21 year olds knew everything?

Hmmm - not really. I've always been independent & responsible. Did my partying in HS and have had a full time job & lived on my own since 19.

Re: Question for those 30 and over????
I've learned to pick my battles and that some things are just not worth fighting over. The biggest change in my personality is that I've learned not to take anything for granted. With all the craziness in recent years, you never know what's going to be happen. Love and happiness are now the most important things in my life (whereas my career and money used to be what drove me). I honestly feel that you should live each day as if it were your last.
had to laugh at this thread...feeling old at 23...and we are all feeling great at 30+ link

Re: Question for those 30 and over????
As a member of the over 40 club, I can say with all honesty that I am a far, far different and better person than I was in my 20's. My priorities are different, I make better decisions (most of the time) and more importantly I have learned to have more fun and take good risks! There are many things that I have done during the last several years that I would not have done in my 20's. I just wish that time would slow down a little so I had more time for everything that I want to do.

I feel I am happier in my 30's than I was in my 20's...I love the responsibilites that I have now, whereas in my 20's, although I was a responsible person, my priorities are different and more meaningful now.

Re: Question for those 30 and over????
OMG Yes!!
In my 20s I was so foolish! I was insecure, needy, and basically a people pleaser. My self-esteem was low and I made some pretty poor choices in relationships and friendships. I also put a lot of emphasis on superficial things.
Now in my 30s, I'm a completely different person. I have good self-esteem, am secure in who I am and worry less about what others think. I focus on the important, meaningful things in life now, not the superficial garbage like looks and brands. In my 20s I'd freak out over a pimple. Now I know that who I am is inside my heart, not on my face--and that's true for others as well.
I am grateful for the little blessings in my life...my job, my health, my family, my friends. In my 20s, I tended to dwell more on what I thought was 'missing' or what I wanted to have, be, or do.
In your 20s, you are still struggling to get away from parents and family ties so you can carve out your own path in the world.
In your 30s, you come to realize that your parents and family ties are your greatest blessings, and you find yourself wanting to be closer again.
I may have a few gray hairs, I may have a few fine lines, I may not be able to stay up all night and still get through the next day without feeling it, but I am SO much happier, so much more fulfilled, so much wiser.
The slight physical changes are a very small price to pay for the wisdom and happiness I've gained.

Re: Question for those 30 and over????
kmcwed, what you said about focusing on what was 'missing' in your 20s and about how much you value your family now, is so true! I feel the same way! Very well put.
