Question for those getting marrried in a Greek church...(kinda long)

FH is not Greek so we are having the ceremony in English... ok, great not a problem, great.....now.... for the bigger problems--

1) Is your priest allowing you to say 'I do' (FH hates that we don't say ANYTHING during the entire ceremony-- and I can't say I blame him!!)

2) OR how about placing the rings on each others fingers instead of the Koumbara doing it for you?
I just was in my cousins wedding party & she got married at St. Demetrios in Jamaica-- the priest had the Koumbara put their rings on---- NO WAY
FH won't go for that, and I don't want it either

3) One last thing--- in the Greek church, they place the ring on the RIGHT hand, FH doesn't like that, does anyone know if the priest will allow us to do it the more American left hand way?

Has the priest said ok to that? I just am not sure how strict they are with the traditions--- you know the church!!! I am hoping they will 'bend' on a few things
Are you letting tthe Koumbara/koumbaro put the rings on out of choice? or is the priest saying that is the way it has to be?

to be honest with you i havent spoken to the priest yet but its something we chose not to do.... FH is also not Greek and rather shy so its cool for us not to say anything and do it the traditional way- I would ask and explain to them the situation and say listen while I respect your traditions and what not I would also like to include some of my fiances traditions.... he can either say yes or no at the worse.... doesnt hurt to ask
