I haven't had a problem with itching at all until this morning and my god, it was the most awful itching imaginable. I tried rubbing cocoa butter on it, but it didn't help at all and now I have little bumps all over the bottom of my belly. Is it possible for PUPPS to just start out of nowhere like that? I'm heading into week 28, so I know the timing's right. If anybody could share their experience with PUPPS, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Re: Question for those that have/had PUPPS...
I had it, so did StayandJohn, and it *****!!!!!!! Yes, it can just come out of nowhere. Aveeno baths halp a tiny bit, but go to the Dr, they may prescribe something for you.
For me, at night it was REALLY bad and I couldn;t sleep, but ice packs helped.
Good luck

Darn, that's what I was afraid of. I'll go to the Dr. and see what he says. I won't be able to see him until Monday at the earliest though, so it looks like I'll be buying some Aveeno baths. Ah, the joys of pregnancy. Thanks for your help

For me it started suddenly after stretch marks appeared, and spread in terms of area over two weeks. I used cortisone and benadryl cream to start. As it got worse I took benadryl pills at night and used SARNA lotion which helped with the itching. Not fun at all!!! It did get better over subsequent weeks, but did not go away completely until I gave birth.

Re: Question for those that have/had PUPPS...
I posted this in another post.... Towards the end of my pregnancy I started to itch like crazy. Eventually it spread to my arms and legs.... I wound up with a somewhat dangerous condition called cholestasis..... so if it spreads to other parts of your body, I would make sure your doc knows, just so he can keep an eye on you. I'm sure you are fine and it's just itchy from your expanding belly , but just wanted to mention this Just in case.

Thank you for posting this. I woke up tonight with severe itching in my legs and now I'm a bit worried. I can't call my doctor until tomorrow though. I've also been very depressed and couldn't figure out why and it turns out that depression is also a common symptom. I'm just going to have to wait it out one more day. I could very well just be panicking right now, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Thanks again for posting.

Re: Question for those that have/had PUPPS...
You are very welcome. I was a bit hesitant to post it because I didn't want to seem like a downer or have you worry for no reason. So I am glad that you welcomed my post. Thanks! I remember the itching was horrible.... thankfully I only had it about the last 3 weeks of pregnancy. At first the doc's didn't think anything of it.... and then I made sure to mention once it had spread, and that was when they sent me to a high-risk doc for some tests and bloodwork. It's better to be safe than sorry! And even though I had it, everything turned out perfectly! Good luck and let us know what your doc says!

It's a good thing you did post it though. I'm glad that you made me aware, because I had never even heard of cholestasis before. All I know is I've been itching like crazy all day now. I hadn't even heard of PUPPS either until just a few days ago, so knowing me, if I didn't have these forums, I probably would've gone along itching like this for a while thinking it was either normal or not related to the pregnancy at all. I feel a lot better knowing that if it IS cholestasis, I'm going to find out about it right away, which is very reassuring. Keep keeping people informed. Even if it seems like a downer, you could really help somebody out. I'm going to call my Dr's office first thing in the morning. I'll keep everybody updated!

Re: Question for those that have/had PUPPS...
Thanks! I remember awhile back a DH got on and mentioned that he didn't think it was a good idea we posted these types of things because it could scare pregnant women.... but now I am glad I posted! Let me know what happens... and good luck!
