QUESTION FOR THOSE TTC AND THOSE WHO HAVE CONCEIVED
How active would one have to be if they are really trying to get preggo. I was discussing this topic with a friend and she said, her and her hubby went at it every night for the month. She said she did not want to wait until the monitor told her she was ovulating, b/c what if the monitor could be wrong...LOL
IMO I think that is a lot. Anyway, if this is too much of a personal question, pardon me.
When you ovulate how do you know that the time that you have sex is the right time that the sperm will meet the egg?? This has always baffled me.

Re: QUESTION FOR THOSE TTC AND THOSE WHO HAVE CONCEIVED
From everything Ive read you can get pregnant when you have sex 2-3 days BEFORE you ovulate to 2-3 days afterwards. When you do it before you are giving the spermies time to get up into the fallopian tubes... when you do it afterward the egg gets fertilized closer to the uterus.
Its pure luck.
As for trying EVERY day a month I think that lowers a mans sperm count or something like that. THey are constantly 'kicking the swimmers out of the wading pool'. She would probably be better off waiting till she was mid cycle then going at it like crazy.

We didn't go over board, probably because we both work and some nights you are just plain tired But I was very conscience of my ovaluation dates and we did make an extra efforts near that time.

I have heard the more nooky, the better. I have also heard that it is an old wives tale that men's sperm are weaker because of too much sex. Honestly, there are so many theories, you don't know what to believe. So, Shamma, go to it baby and don't feel guilty if you need to take a night off!
Lots of baby dust to all TTC!!!!!

Re: QUESTION FOR THOSE TTC AND THOSE WHO HAVE CONCEIVED
We are TTC and we try to have sex everyday around the time I ovulate. Since I am on Clomid, the dr. gave me a 10 window - but having sex everyday gets a bit taxing afer we both work a long day. Sometimes that gets to me - I think - this shouldn't be work - like something I have to do! But in the end I know it will be worth it.
I find now after several months of TTC I am much more interested in sex when I don't have to have sex (i.e. not ovulating) then its just fun - like it should be.
Baby dust to all!

I could never get my hubby in to planned nookie, he hates it. He said it should be natural. I told him if we try for a while and nothing happens naturally then we will have to go in to some planned nookie

I remember reading something that a sperm can live up to 5 days now if you go at it 31 days how many sperms are swimming around looking for an egg One is bound to reach its destination

I have read in a few different places, that every other day is best, everyday makes the sperm 'weaker'.

What they might not have enough strength to make the journey??
Cira, I don't think we could handle it with work, gym and sleep.

Re: QUESTION FOR THOSE TTC AND THOSE WHO HAVE CONCEIVED
They have some good info about this in Taking Charge... I have told Jennbaby this before, but DH and I tried for 5 mos before we concieved and the month the little one was concieved, we went from BD every night from about 5-6 days before ovulation to every other night, including the day the ovulation predictor was positive. Once you have already ovulated, the chance of fertilization are very low, so its best to BD before you ovulate. The hard thing is figuring out when that is. I don't know about you ladies, but every night BD was a little much for me. I was sore, and one month I got a raging yeast infection. Sperm can definetely live for a couple of days in the uterus, and most of what I have read says that 2-3 days before ovulation is when you have the best chance of concieving. And unless your DH has a confirmed low sperm count, they will have plenty, no matter how often you BD.
Re: QUESTION FOR THOSE TTC AND THOSE WHO HAVE CONCEIVED
DH found an article froma medical journal saying that doing it more...does not lessen the man's sperm count...so he is happy about that study

Re: QUESTION FOR THOSE TTC AND THOSE WHO HAVE CONCEIVED
My husband and I did an ovulation calendar on WEDMD.com. When it said we were fertile (I.E THE 12th of the month) we atrateed on the 10th and did it every other day.
We were blessed that is happened the first try and now the twins are in their 12th week!!
Hope this helps!!
