Question for those who have priced/booked Photographer!

I'm pricing a basic photo package...

I've been quoted about $4,500 for for Bride/Groom Album, 2 parents albums, thank you cards, a few large photo's and video.

Is that reasonable?

that is about the going rate..and it depend on how many photos are in your album and the 'type' of album you are getting...ex. magazine style is usually higher priced..

wait, one more thing. You really need to look for the number of photos in the albums. I was told that as a rule of thumb, if a photographer says that your album will be 30 pics, you should leave. There is no way you are only going to choose 30 pics to be in your wedding album. You will end up adding more and then your cost will skyrocket. My package is this:

1 10 X 10 bride/groom album with 56 pics(some b&w, sepia as well)
2 parent albums with 5 X 7 pics in them
1 16 X 20 wall portrait
3 - 8X 10
full set of proofs
one bride favorama

also, I have two photographers and one(or two, can't remember) assistant(s)

it really depends
1. how many pictures in package
2. who your using...

each vendor varies in price and quality...

We are paying 3900.00 for video and photography in my contract it says 400 proofs 2 parent album's an additonal lighting man thank yous and an engaement picture as well as a portfolio and balck and white coffee table album.

That is high in my opinion. I am payng only half of that for album with 60 pics (sort of magazine style), 2 parent albums with 24 pics each, lots of loose pics (8x10's, etc.), thank yous, all proofs and negs and a few other things. We also got a casual day (engagement shots). This includes 2 photographers for the entire day. Check out Duet. They are worth it.

Thats about what we paid too I believe.....I think it depends on who you are dealing with....what kind of technology the photographer & videographer have and what they are capable of providing you....You tend to pay for technology, and thats what we went with....if you are looking for something very simple and basic then I would say the price is too high....Just call and meet different people because you can only tell when you meet them, you will make your decision upon meeting the vendor, you have to have that connection with them....everyne is different and may not feel the same as others, try and use your own judgement and taste and go with that...
