Question for Vanderbilt Brides

Question for Vanderbilt Brides

My final review appointment is for this Saturday and we'll be reviewing everything. I am having my ceremony outdoors in the courtyard, pending weather of course, and I was wondering what the Vanderbilt had told you about accoustics and what your florists have told you about flower displays. Is anyone using columns for displaying flowers? Also are you using your ceremony flowers for your cocktail hour or getting completely different flowers? I can't remember what the Vanderbilt suggests and I have a growing list of questions and requests. Thanks everyone for your replies.

Re: Question for Vanderbilt Brides

I visited the courtyard one night to check out the lighting and noticed that with the fountain running, it's pretty hard to hear anyone on the alter area. So I am asking them to shut off the fountain as soon as the ceremony is about to begin. My FH does not want speakers or microphones.
Regarding flowers, I'm not doing any decorations for the ceremony. Just some rose petals on the alter. The courtyard is beautiful enough, so I don't want to take away from it.
For the cocktail hour, we are getting bubble bowls and putting votives and some rose petals at each table. We are borrowing the fake arrangement for the big food display.

We are having a string quartet on the terrace without any microphones. I will ask that the fountain be shut off. I didn't really think about that so thanks. I am having rose petals along the steps as wells as some kind of flowers floating in the fountain. The videographer will have the groom miced, and I believe Vanderbilt has a P.A. System they use for the officiant.

I was there this weekend, and saw it set up for a wedding, the bride had a huppah which looked beautiful on the first landing, we however aren't using one. I can't decide either if I want some kind of pedestals, arch, etc.

Hope this helps.

Re: Question for Vanderbilt Brides

Thank you! Both of your responses are very helpful. I forgot about asking to have the fountain turned off. Now it is at the top of my list of things to remember to ask about. Also I didn't know that we could ask for them to put petals in the fountain. That's also on my list.

Irene- We are having a trio on the terrace. That seems to be the best location.

We are doing rose petals on the runner and the path to the first landing. I am thinking of having some simple arrangements, maybe pedestals, put around the first landing just to add to it a little.

Again thank you!

Where are you putting the runner? Isn't the fountain blocking the path?

Irene:

I think I'm putting the runner going down the stairs to the fountain, though if they can't securely mount it to the stairs, there is no point in having it. I don't want to trip down those stairs. Yet another question to ask the Vanderbilt.
