FH and I are going to the 'mixer' on 4/29. What exactly is the purpose of this mixer? lol

I didn't even hear about this event. How did you hear about it?

CRASHING! We went to the 'mixer' last year. It wasn't too many people, but you got to taste some CH food and get some cocktails. Always fun to see your wedding hall again!!

I met with Kira at Dazzling Moments today and got my invite, so I will be there on the 29th too. Excited to taste more of the cocktail hour food!

Question for Westbury Manor Brides

Hey girls, I went to the mixer a couple of month ago. Personally it wasn't so great for me. I already had most of my vendors booked so I didn't stay very long. I thought also that there would be more food! There was the cold platters that would be for cocktail hour and about 4 hot dishes, including the taco bar which I actually loved. Otherwise I think they had penne ala vodka and some chicken with vegetables. I enjoyed the Bridal Showcase much better because the food was phenominal! Pricey to add one but delicious!

Does anyone know when the next bridal showcase will be? We already added the mashed potato bar but I want to check out some of the other add-ons (smokehouse station sounds pretty awesome).

I hope they have the taco/fajita station at the mixer because that's actually one of the cocktail hour stations I was interested in (FH loves tex-mex).

We're not going to the mixer but can't wait for the next showcase. I'm assuming mid summer would be the next one I hope.

We booked all of our vendors so I don't think we need to go.

We still need to book almost everything (DJ, Photographer, Florist) so maybe this will help us get started on that.

If you didn't book anything then this would definitly help out! As for the smokehouse station, it was awesome at the bridal showcase. I know I went to one showcase but I was curious if I would still be able to go to another one!

Question for Westbury Manor Brides

I had asked Kira at Dazzling Moments about going to both the 4/29 and the July mixer. FH can't go with me to the first one, so I'm bringing my mom. He hasn't seen the upstairs of Westbury Manor yet (where we will have the ceremony, CH and reception) so I thought the mixer would be a good opportunity to show him around the place. And he could taste some of the cocktail hour food and hopefully meet our BM.

We went to two mixers. They are a mini cocktail hour and if you are available I definitely recommend attending. We went and it was as if we went to a nice dinner out. They also give out prizes. If you have not meet with Dazzling Moments call/email your BM and they will add you to the list.

You see a smaller version of the cold display that is included in the cocktail hour. They also have about 6 popular cocktail dishes that you can choose from. They had eggplant rollatini, fried calamari, Chinese station, Penne ala Vodka, fajita station and 1 or 2 other things.

Thanks for the info! FH wants the calamari and I had been trying to talk him out of it, since I didn't think it would be crispy if it sat in a warming tray for an hour. But at least this way, we can taste it and see what it's like. He'll be happy if I have to eat my words, lol. Btw, the eggplant rollatini is delicious!! We got to sample it at our food tasting a couple weeks ago. FH hates eggplant but even he liked that appetizer.

We did not pick the calamari because at any event (mixer included) it is never crispy and a little rubbery. They have many fish items during cocktail hour that we did not find it necessary.

That's exactly what I thought. I want FH to be happy with the food, but cocktail hour is really more for our guests than for us. If he tastes the calamari and it's rubbery and/or soggy, I'm sure he'll be convinced that we should choose something else as a hot dish for the CH. And we can always add on shrimp cocktail or something like that.
